I started with a complete drawing, and kept redrawing it with whatever changes came into my head...which is basically what animation is. But this also illustrates how a series works...an idea is repeated and allowed to evolve, until it turns into something else...or in this case, until is comes back around on itself.

The spiral is a pattern that attracts me. The infinite curling and uncurling is dynamic and mysterious...the opening of a fern, the swirl of leaves in a whirl of wind. I also like things that turn into something else. Here the bird's feathers could be leaves, and its long neck eventually curls into a serpent or perhaps a Phoenix.
